Trelowen Way

We’ve built 75 new affordable, sustainable and energy-efficient homes in Hempsted, a neighbourhood in Peterborough. The properties come in a range of sizes and styles, from one-bedroom maisonettes to four-bedroom semi-detached houses. We began this work in 2021 and completed it in 2023. 

Two bungalows have been designed to be accessible to wheelchair users (meeting Part M4 Category 3 requirements). A further 21 homes are built to suit people with accessibility requirements, including older people and customers with reduced mobility (meeting Part M4 Category 2 requirements).

Trelowen Way is in Hempsted, which is a lovely residential area in the city known for its community spirit. The neighbourhood is home to many local families who benefit from many amenities, a shopping centre and playing fields. It’s also a very well-connected area, just 2.5 miles from the centre of Peterborough and its busy train station, and under 10 minutes drive to the A15 and A1(M). 

The homes have an EPC rating of A, and have been designed to lower energy costs for Accent’s residents and tackle fuel poverty, by:

• using a 'fabric first' approach through high-quality components and materials that maximise the building’s performance
• using LoCal Homes Eco 100 series traditional timber frame open panel system
• increasing thermal performance with lower u-values over traditional construction
• installing solar panels (photovoltaic or PV panels) on every roof 

The homes were built by Burmor Contruction working alongside James Garner Architecture who led the design, planning and detailed drawings.
